A Time of Grief and Intercession
Our hearts are heavy over the loss of so many precious lives.
On March 22nd, four people were killed outside a mall in Be’er Sheva.
Just days later, two more were lost in Hadera.
Then, on March 29th, tragedy struck again in Bnei Brak, where five people were killed, including the first policeman on the scene, a Christian Arab from Nof HaGalil (see below).
Another attack followed on April 7th, taking three lives in the heart of Tel Aviv.
These repeated acts of violence have shaken communities and left deep wounds across the nation. Yet even in our grief, we lift our eyes to the Lord and cry out for His mercy and peace.
“In just a little while, the wicked will be no more;
though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.
But the meek shall inherit the land
and delight themselves in abundant peace.”
Psalm 37:10–11
A Hero from Nof HaGalil
HOPE’s new premises stand in Nof HaGalil, a residential area just outside Nazareth where Arabs and Jews live side by side. It is also home to Amir Khoury (30), a Christian Arab police officer who responded first to the Bnei Brak attack on March 29th.
Amir courageously confronted the terrorist, stopping the assault and saving many lives, but losing his own in the process.
Bnei Brak, an Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) town near Tel Aviv, mourned deeply alongside the entire nation. Thousands, religious and secular, Jews and Arabs alike, came together to honor Amir at his funeral. His bravery became a shining symbol of unity and light in the midst of darkness.
As we fast and pray for Israel, we remember Amir’s sacrifice and stand together in faith, believing that God will bring healing, hope, and lasting peace to this land.
