Sirens at 3:00 AM: Israel Awakens to War

On Friday, June 13, at exactly 3:00 AM, the nation of Israel woke to a jarring combination of air raid sirens and an urgent phone alert from the Home Front Command. The message: “State of emergency. Prepare for a significant threat.”

Just hours later, the mystery cleared, Israel had launched a bold preemptive strike inside Iran. The operation, named “Rising Lion,” had begun.

Why Now? The Road from October 7 to “Rising Lion”

Since the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre, where thousands of terrorists stormed southern Israel and launched waves of missiles, most threats against Israel have come through Iranian proxies—Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and the Houthis.

But only twice before had Iran launched direct attacks. That changed on June 13.

With Hamas and Hezbollah significantly weakened, Israeli leadership knew: the time had come to strike the source—to cut off the head of the snake.

Diplomatic Deadline Expired: The U.S., Iran, and the Nuclear Clock

The question on everyone’s mind was immediate: Did U.S. President Trump authorize this?

For months, Trump had tried to broker a deal with the Ayatollah regime to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program. But Iran kept dragging out negotiations, while centrifuges kept spinning, inching closer to the bomb.

Trump had issued a 60-day ultimatum. But when Day 61 arrived without an agreement, Israel acted, catching the world off guard by launching a precision preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear sites.

Missile Barrage: Iran Responds with Force

Since then, Iran has responded with daily attacks, launching ballistic missiles and suicide drones toward Israel, sometimes several waves per day.

Sirens now regularly sound in the middle of the night—and increasingly, in the middle of the day. Millions of Israelis have been forced to flee to bomb shelters, night after night.

While Israel’s Iron Dome and Arrow systems have intercepted most threats, some missiles have struck buildings across the north, south, and central regions. Over 30 civilians, including Jews, Arabs, and foreigners, have been killed, with hundreds wounded and thousands more traumatized or displaced.

A Miracle in Be’er Sheva

On June 19, tragedy nearly struck when Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva took a direct missile hit.

But in what many call a miracle, the exact section that was hit had been evacuated the day before at the Ministry of Health’s request. Every staff member and patient was already in the bomb shelter. No deaths were reported, only minor injuries from the blast.

Iranian Regime Targets Civilians – IDF Targets Precision

While the Israeli Air Force (IAF) continues its strategic campaign, hitting nuclear, military, and governmental sites in Iran with precision and restraint to avoid civilian casualties, Iran’s leadership is doing the opposite.

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has deliberately ordered civilian population centers in Israel to be targeted; an act of terror designed to maximize casualties.

Iranians Speak Up: “Take Down Our Government”

Yet, in a surprising and hopeful turn, many Iranians are speaking out, supporting the Israeli strike and calling on the IDF to remove the oppressive regime that has ruled them for decades.

There is a thriving underground church in Iran, and many Iranian believers in Jesus (Yeshua) have developed a deep love for Israel.

This war could be the very crisis that ushers in freedom for a new Iran.

Call to Prayer

Let us pray:

• For protection and strength over the Israeli Air Force pilots, risking their lives in the skies over Iran.

• For the civilians in Israel, living under constant threat.

• And for the Iranian people, desperate for liberty from the Ayatollah regime.

May this be the dawn of a new day, for both Israel’s safety and Iran’s redemption.
